Under HF 424, PAs Would No Longer Be Required to be Supervised by a Physician May 10, 2023 On May 10, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed into law HF 424, legislation that removes the requirement for a PA to be supervised by a physician in order to practice medicine. The bill provides much-needed flexibility for providers to meet the growing healthcare needs of patients in Iowa. “Passage of HF 424 not only makes Iowa one of the best states in the nation for PAs to practice, but it expands access to care in the state’s rural and underserved communities,” said Iowa Physician Assistant Society (IPAS) President Samantha Sparrow, PA.
