- Briefly understand the concepts of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and how they affect prescribing in older adults.

There’s a clear link between positive intimacy, health, and well-being, and this is important throughout adult life. It’s also vulnerable to strain from life events and disruptions to health and the environment. The sexual needs of older adults are often overlooked by clinicians, caregivers, family members, and society in general. Clinicians must foster a paradigm shift in how we think about sexual health in older adults and—through a lens of growth, adapting, and self-expression—re-imagine sexuality as a component of successful aging.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to:
- Describe the frequency of sexual activity and sexual dysfunction in older adults.
- Discuss the effects of medication, disease, and environment on sexual health in older adults.
