Spring CME

Thank you to all who came out for a great two-day CME at the West Des Moines Marriott!

We were fortunate to host MANY great speakers, including several who traveled from out of state.

Our event kicked off with the group from 1st 5 Healthy Mental Development, an encore presentation from 2016 Fall CME, and rolled right into presentations on Osteoporosis and Radon Exposure.   Kowa sponsored Monday’s lunch presentation, which was presented by Peter Toth.

Chad Quist, Meghan Bohlender, Lori Mien, Ed Friedmann, and AAPA President, Josanne Pagel all presented in the afternoon on Monday. All provided excellent information to attendees. Ed provided an up-to-date session on recent changes to PA rules and regulations and Josanne engaged the group, discussing how PAs can go BEYOND!

IPAS President-Elect, Jim Earel, who gave a few words on behalf of the Board of Directors, kicked off our second day of presentations. It was another great day filled with strong presentations on Ortho, Caring for Returning Vets and Pain Management from an interprofessional standpoint. There was also a great presentation on Insulin pumps, there’s a helpful guide on the IPAS website for comparing these!

We also heard updates on Zika, Melanoma treatment, Psoriatic Arthritis, A Fib, Naloxone and AntiPsychotic Drugs in Primary Care.

Our Conference committee, Laura Delaney, Lindsey Engbers, Holland Taylor, Emily Erickson, Rebecca Purnell and Laura Cunningham did an amazing job pulling everything together and launching a new polling app for attendees this year.

We had amazing support from our exhibitors and sponsors, and look forward to seeing familiar faces at our upcoming Fall CME, October 9-11 at the Coralville Marriott.

Planning is underway for next spring, and we’re excited to offer some new educational opportunities in 2018.
